As a leader and manager, I want my subordinates and colleagues to relax and be themselves, and I want to create an environment where they can say what they want without hesitation. Of course, I sometimes have difficulties dealing with complex subjects and conflict management, but I am always aware of what I have learned about secure base leadership in the course and can put it into practice.

It isn’t easy to be enthusiastic about work without good relationships. I felt the importance of taking the time to build relationships, especially with the increase in information-only exchanges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this course, I learned how to improve and develop connections, such as through the Johari Window, which I am now putting into practice in my workplace.

The biggest takeaway from the course was about Authentic Leadership. There are no formulated rules for leadership in one’s way, but I found my way through dialogue with my coach and group members. As a result, I could use those learnings in my work, build good relationships, and gain support by being sincere with my team members.

After the course, I became the leader of a newly formed group. As I built the team, I was conscious of creating the feedback culture we covered in the course. At first, the feedback was only polite and superficial. Still, I was able to share the awareness that feedback is beneficial and create an environment where honest feedback is given based on good relationships.

Through this course, I was able to learn and confidently practice techniques in dealing with team members as a leader, such as the Johari Window, state of mind, and mindfulness.

I was enthusiastic about my job, and because of that, I was appointed as director, but things did not go as well as I had initially planned. Although I was doing my best, I received harsh evaluations from people around me. However, by remembering the importance of showing my true self and having a secure base, which I learned in this course, and by being open about my feelings and what I had done, I was able to build a good relationship with my team and received a lot of support.
